TEACHING ASSISTANCE IN RURAL SCHOOL needed for 1 to 3 months
Opportunity Description: Teaching Assistant project in Ghana is a wonderful opportunity to our volunteers to Ghana to help the primary and secondary level school children between the ages of 5 -16 in their quest for learning English language Mathematics, Science and Sports. Volunteers can choose to volunteer in this project according to 3 academic semesters of Ghana in a year. Teaching English volunteers to Ghana will work for 5-6 hours a day and 25-30 hours a week. Apart from English, volunteers can also teach Math, Science or any other subject that might be of interest and help to the students. As a volunteer, you can also aide the other teachers of the school and encourage everybody to interact more, and interact in English. Location of the Project: Greater Accra, Kumasi in the Ashanti region and Anum in the Eastern region Project: Teaching English, Mathematic, Science, ICT, General knowledge and Sports Arrival and End Point: Kotoka international Airport, Accra Language/Skill Requirement: Fluency in English Accommodation and Meals: Host family and Ghanaian food three times a day Activities: Teach English to school children Working Hours: 25-30 hours per week Project summary Like in any other developing countries or underdeveloped countries in the world, the demand of school teachers is growing incredibly high in Ghana. The knowledge of English, mathematics, science is a gateway to good and high paying jobs and all companies or big firms demand to employ people with good grades in this area of studies. Students in these selected schools are very keen to learn and improve their conversational English, mathematic and science .Most of the schools also put extra emphasis on English education. This project will helps the primary and junior high school class children between the age of 4-10 and 11-16 to learn English and also get education on math and science. Teaching resources are available for the teachers but will also require more in other to enhance good quality education to the students. Ghana has three (3) academic semesters a year: 1st TERM: Start Date: January 10 to April 12 Vacation Holiday: April 13 to May 1 2nd TERM: Start Date: May 2 to August 4 Vacation Holiday: August 5 to September 12 3rd TERM: Start Date: September 13 to December 15 Vacation Holiday: December 16 to January 1 Dates of academic semesters can change and we will inform volunteers.

ORPHANAGE ASSISTANT - ORPHANAGE HOME needed for 1 to 3 months
Opportunity Description: Description: Volunteering with children in an orphanage is the most rewarding experience for volunteers. Volunteers work alongside the existing staff to care for the children in orphanages. The work in the orphanage home involves feeding, dressing and keeping the children active within the homes, teaching and assisting them in learning. Other tasks are to clean and tidy the homes as well as cooking. If you choose to do volunteer work in orphanages, you need to be adaptable, flexible and prepared to face and hear heartbreaking stories of the children's backgrounds and what they hope to become in the near future. Richbone Initiative Foundation orphanage program is focused on the needs of the abandoned Children who are out on the street due to poverty, school drop out, death of parents, parents having difficulties to look after their children in school, neglect or abuse RIF support all these children in some selected orphanage homes and its surroundings. Many of these children have been denied the chance of having better and quality education as well as the basics for survival such as food clothing and shelter. By volunteering at an orphanage homes, you will have the chance to offer them support, affection, and the benefits of a basic education. This project presents the opportunity to help Street Children and those who have lost their rights to lead a happy life. At the orphanage, children are taught how to read, write, garden, work with wood, and play sports. They are given a chance at a better life. Volunteers at this placement lead activities with the children including games, informal education, arts and crafts, reading activities, music and more. Many volunteers also get involved in repairs, painting, etc. as facilities are in need of up keeping. Volunteers will be working in an orphanage home at Old Ningo, Amasaman and Tema Community in Ghana. The primary role of volunteers is to teach supplementary lessons to orphanage and community children. Volunteers will assist in the daily activities of the home in terms of cooking, bathing the children, dressing them up, telling them stories, feeding the young ones, taking part in sports activities of the home, sweeping, cleaning,washing,teaching and taking children to school etc As a volunteer working with our Orphanage program, you will be filling an important role in the lives of these needy children, as well as assisting the hardworking staff at the orphanage ground in Old Ningo, Amasaman and Tema.Volunteers will also teach these children any important trade or share their stories and give advice to these children to achieve their dreams

VOLUNTEER IN RURAL HOSPITALS AND CLINICS needed for 1 to 3 months
Opportunity Description: This project will allow volunteers to assist in clinical works at the hospital. They will give a helping hand to nurses and doctors to serve the sick patient who comes to the hospital for medical treatments. Volunteers provide basic healthcare for rural people, decrease the prevalence of endemic disease and improve overall village health by providing public health projects and promoting health education in the villages. They will also help the clinic staff takes care and administer drugs to the children and their mothers. Volunteers will also help in looking for patient's records, filling in their hospital cards; etc.Volunteers will work from Monday to Friday and will serve the poor residents of communities by providing preventive health care and education like the use of mosquito nets, good hygiene conditions at home etc Highlights: Specific tasks would depend on the skills of the volunteer. Qualified medical personnel would be most beneficial. They could work in any of the wards, in the laboratories, or assisting with administration. Volunteer’s role can range from observation to basic assistance, depending on your level of knowledge. (Student Nurse, Doctor Etc.). Placements are in the rural areas of Ghana. Staff workers work 8 hours a day. But volunteers could assist staff workers at the hospital with in their own schedules. Qualifications: Minimum requirement for this program is that the volunteer should have a background in health Volunteers would need to possess the ability to learn quickly, and take on responsibility. They should be positive and professional at all times. Those who do not have the qualification can also volunteer on this project as it is flexible and volunteers will only assist in areas like looking for records, checking temperature of patients, checking weight, advising, and so on.
